StoryBus
Reading is where many of us begin our interaction with stories...and the growing never ends.
There is nothing more rewarding than watching my kids sit down and read a book. Every parent should have this joy, just as every child should have this opportunity.
So as I wrote What's Your Story? I happened upon the StoryBus and knew immediately that I wanted to support this effort from my book sales. The StoryBus is an amazing, fantasy space where children have hands-on experiences with storytelling and reading. The StoryBus travels to museums and schools to target low-income communities in my backyard—the Chicagoland area.
The Kohl McCormick StoryBus provides a comprehensive program that creates a solid foundation for reading and future success for thousands of children in low-income communities. By traveling to these neighborhood schools and museums, the StoryBus brings a hands-on, language-rich experience for early-literacy children. StoryBus offers workshops and educational materials for teachers and parents that extends the learning into the school and home.
