Overview

Welcome to this WisdomTools Scenario based on my book What's Your Story? Its purpose is to show how leaders use stories to drive results. It highlights the Story Tools outlined in the book and shows how to use these tools to capture, organize, and tell your stories in a way that increases your performance and the performance of those around you. Many times, leaders lose the chance to ignite the performance of their people because they have chosen the expediency of bits and bullets over a more rich and engaging approach. In this story, you will meet an interesting mix of people who are all struggling with how to get their messages across to colleagues, clients, and even each other. The problems they face will be very familiar to you, that is, they are trying to cut through the noise of their busy lives and reach people in a way that makes them better, more effective leaders. Come on in to this story, and enjoy.

There he meets a guy who inadvertently introduces him to some tools he's never heard of before - the Win Book, Story Matrix and Story Coach--three concepts that Jack will later come to value. A few days later Christy and Roz, a senior exec friend of Christy's, have lunch with Roz's mentor, Russ Strebor, who happens to be the originator of these story tools. Dan, however, has not yet been turned on to the power of stories, and decides to rely on talking points and a wealth of technical details about his product when he and Jack meet with their biggest client of the quarter. A few hours later the client calls Jack with their decision...
